having said that... are the weekends longer and harder than weekdays for any other families out there? usually on friday-monday aaron and i work the entire time: him working all day and then me working at night. so the weekends are really longer and more stressful than the weekdays around here!

.

our schedule is about to change up a little with my husband getting promoted at his job. i'm not sure what all will happen yet but i can't say that i usually welcome changes like this with open arms. we get in a routine and then i wonder how we will all adjust to the new one. hopefully it will be a good change.

.

i'm also looking towards fall and wondering what i will do school wise. i'm still chipping away at my art degree but i'm not in any rush anymore. i'm just trying to enjoy the process and see where it takes me. taking a few classes at a time. art is always a good thing for me.

.

we're all just having a lazy morning, as usual. we're out of milk and asher is distraught about this. i'm trying to decide if i want to get the boys up and out of the house. maybe head to old navy where clearance is an additional 30% off right now! what do you all have planned for your friday?

okay guys, i had to set aside some of these photos that i took while doing our fabkids shoot to share in a separate post, because oh man i love them so much! roman and asher were exceptionally agreeable to getting their pictures taken this day and it couldn't have made my heart happier. we opened up our mail and the boys were both pleased with their new outfits and then i surprised them with these shoes that i had stashed up in the closet to pull out for such an occasion. photographing my children is my passion and when they give in to their mama and let me take their photos, it fills me up.

are my little boys twins, or what?!  they both have their own unique looks but make the same facial expressions and have so many similarites. man am i blessed.

i'm just itching to put a blog post up but can't seem to coherently put anything together so i thought i'd share these photos from a personal project i've been working on! i finally got around to trying free-lensing and i am in love. the randomness and dreaminess of it is just soothing my need for something different in photography. the photos here are very consistent with my usual style of photography but i've also been pushing and trying some new things lately and it's been so refreshing and fun. i'm taking a class this semester that consists of building a semester long project and i've been putting a lot of work into it. i'm trying to push myself as an artist and it's an ongoing and wonderful journey.

i don't know what my deal is but i have just been so tired the past few days.  i guess i need to drink more coffee, i don't feel like i've been staying true to my second or third cup lately and it shows.
 that or i need more sleep which seems much less likely to happen!

so having said that, my plan was to be at the gym right now but instead i'm laying in bed and eating burritos and blogging while asher naps. maybe i'll work out later... maybe.

aaron took over "fun friday" today with the boys while i was at work and he bought them each a
$5 nerf gun. happiness abounds. :)

speaking of work, we have FALL clothing in now. ew. ew, ew, ew.
ok fine, i like fall and am the littlest bit excited for boots and sweaters.
but i am not ok with winter coming, not okay at all.

random things for friday!

this week, i just haven't felt the push to finish up any posts of substance. 

so for now, a random post full of random things to share with you all:

i'm finally trying to buy some sandals for my boys! i got a great deal on these for asher today at old navy (where i'm working now!) and i'm thinking about grabbing these for roman. i have such a hard time finding boys' sandals. i think that this style of sandal is just so ugly really but i want my boys to have shoes that protect their feet when they are playing! last summer, the boys had a rough time hiking in the mountains with flimsy sandals so i am trying to find something a little more durable. i really like keens but they are just too expensive! any suggestions on cute, quality, affordable boys sandals?

speaking of clothing, i am happy that asher has branched out in what he will wear. during the winter, he would basically only wear two different pairs of sweatpants and two long sleeve shirts that he would rotate through. he had a very hard time adjusting to shorts this spring because he is very sensitive and particular. miraculously though, lately he has branched out and become less selective about what he wears! this makes things so much easier and honestly i enjoy it as well because i love dressing my little boys! he is still very picky and wears some ridiculous things, (currently he is wearing hiking boots two sizes too big) but i'm glad that it is less of a battle.

we just finished parks and recreation on netflix and have moved onto watching finding bigfoot. at first i didn't think a show about hunting for bigfoot would interest me, but we are hooked! watching tv and eating junk food is what we do here every night when the boys are sleeping.

i haven't been on instagram lately because i'm having trouble connecting my ipod to the internet! i've missed it but it's always nice to get a little break from some of my "electronics," as roman would say!

i've started doing "fun friday" with the boys. i got this idea from a church moms' group that i went to with my friend. basically every friday i have a fun little surprise for the boys. this is way out of my comfort zone because it's one of those "pinteresty" kind of things that i never do but i think it will be fun and roman is super excited! last week i gave them bubbles and jump ropes to play with on the the 4th of july and today i have some really adorable inexpensive little camping themed toys for them which will make them crazy thrilled!

roman had his very first field trip today to the museum and he had the best time, of course. aaron and i were able to take our littlest out to lunch and shopping for wedding clothes. although our food was pretty much the worst and too expensive, and asher was screaming at me in the dressing room because he did not approve of my outfit choice, it has still been an all around good day.
.
it's sunshiny and warm and i'm sure we'll spend the afternoon adventuring outside in one way or another. well, as soon as the boys stop fighting. and i have some coffee... so is life. ;)

    i feel like i have so many new photos to share here on my blog but i just haven't had the desire to  prepare them into posts! it doesn't help that my editing process feels a bit strained lately since i no longer have lightroom (horrors!) and am exclusively using photoshop to edit my photos. which is just not what i'm used to. the laptop that i had been using for years finally bit the dust. probably prematurely because i'm kind of the least responsible person on the planet. so yeah, i am now using maybe, just maybe, the worst laptop of all time. and editing photos is a slight nightmare due to it's color issues. but alas i must go on because i mean really what would i do if i couldn't produce photos of these two sweetest-boys in my life? also, i'm pretty sure the theme of my blog is just complaining when i have the worst luck with technology... everyone needs a niche, right?

     so today i'm throwing together some random photos that haven't made the cut into my blog posts lately, but that i still love!

happy and free. roman annoyed that i'm taking a picture; asher doing "spooky face" - his fave. i didn't realize that they were pulling on a broken part of the fence until after i took this picture -oops! brother love. <3      looking at my sons these days and looking through these photos, i'm thinking, "oh my goodness i kind of have two boys now." not babies. like real-talking-running-thinking for themselves-tiny humans. man, that went fast. it's super adorable of course being able watching these two interact and play and i know that their relationship will only continue to grow. ;)
